Nearly there

Well, we're nearly there - Having had a successful 70th birthday party for Dave's dad, Bill - (is he really only that old) and tidied up quite a lot for it, we are a little more ship-shape for opening.

Mind you - did we need to tidy up after Dave had broken nearly everything in the building. Gents toilets broken, brewery broken, most of the rooms messed up and the bar used as a workshop.

Still, the new vortex underback just arrived today for the brewery along with a modified hop filter and repaired mash tun floor. Just need to brew some beer now.....

....and then into the kitchen to make some nice food - look out for the slow cooked Cumbrian Lamb special - it's that new it hasn't even got a name yet.

See you soon.

Oh, and watch out Ann bought
Dave a Mandolin for Christmas....

Dave - didn't know you could play the mandolin - another string to your bow? Or am I mixing my metaphors?

A sink, Dave. You need a sink in that brewery. So what about the hop filter and the floor.

Hi Anonymous!!

Hop filter now 50% greater surface area (a feature required to emulate East Coast USA IPA ale due to use of 3kg of hops per brew)

Mash Tun flase floor ended up with NO handles on by the end of last season making it difficult to lift it out. So new handles needed to be welded on....

But I've found a real nice local fabriaction firm!!

...yes...a sink...I seem to remember somebody commenting on that before.....

I gather this latest comment was left by a customer in the Trailhead Coffeehouse which is located somewhere in a distant part of the world known as Oregon.

By all accounts he was enjoying some hoppy West Coast
ale. Apparently there is a fan base for The Woolpack Inn over there started by a rather dubious gentlemen by the name of Ted Sobel.

There are also rumours that he is starting up a brew pub in Oak Ridge, hence the reference here.

However, in this British exclusive to The Woolpack Inn web site we can confirm the name of this pub as The Brewers Union 180.

We can reveal, the amazing truth, that at least one American has realised that the pint over there in fact is only 16oz rather than our 20oz. Ted has decided to GO LARGE with his new English pint glasses and is even introducing proper firkins to dispense CASK conditioned ale. The brewers Union will be one of only a handful of pubs in the USA to serve cask conditioned ale in imperial pint glasses.

We are aware of this due to our global spies who keep a check on all things to do with English Ale.
