A recent article about English beer in a new beer magazine out here in the Colonies described most American beer as 'macrobrewed sparkling rice water'. Nice.
Just returned from a stay at The Woolpack Inn...very nice and food of a very high quality. Most unusual though not a single mixer to have with a drink..I requested white wine and lemonade, now The Woolpack serve a delicious original lemonade but it is cloudy so not a suitable mix with white wine...I asked for soda water, but they don't have it. I was offered sparkling water???? Which I politely refused. For dessert I wanted Sticky Toffee Pudding with fresh cream...but, no you can't have that we only serve it with ice cream...great for presentation but surely fresh cream could also be given at a guests request and for breakfast on the menu it advises that bought sauces such as ketchup are not served....Come on Woolpack you are so nearly there, you can't expect guests to want what you think they will want. Lighten up and be more guest friendly then you'll be perfect!!!

'Garbage can' will do nicely...
Even though it's not really a 'can' per se...

This guy really is nuts about good food and real ale. I went recently and enjoyed the friendly, relaxed atmosphere the great food and unique ales.
Aw, Dave says it's the nicest thing anybody's ever said about him...

Soda water is sparkling water.....
....and we do have mixers, perhaps just a little different.
