How blue do you like it?

A better summer this year than last, we think. Probably because more people are learning about what we do. Although the weather hasn't been fantastic, it's not been as bad as last year and we've had lots of very nice people here, many joining the increasing number of returning customers. Amongst them is a well know film actor who came for lunch earlier in the year and then came back to stay overnight last week. No we're still not going to say who, apparently he used to come here years ago but hasn't been here for a while.

The summer brings out the campers of course. They have never really been our main source of trade so we don't try too hard to please them. Not that we mind campers. Some can be very nice people and are very welcome if they like something less mainstream. Some of the campers still get confused though, no bar food in the evening - but if you were us, who would you rather have in your house for dinner, campers, or a film actor?

Since then other return visitors included Chris and Ivan, the Blue Bore Bomb fans. But apparently the Blue Bore Bomb isn't blue enough anymore, according to them. So if you've been here and had this desert then perhaps you can give us feedback- how blue do you like your Blue Bore Bomb? Are the Bombs really turning into a shadow of their former self? Do they need to mature for a week? Or are Chris and Ivan just getting fussy?

I love Blue Bore Bomb. It makes life worth living. When i get back to my humdrum townie life, i just have to think " Ahh, Blue Bore Bomb ", and there i am back among fells, fields and friends, ( not necessarily in that order! ). Chris & Ivan may be right, though. Perhaps it could be a bit bluer. But it's still the most amazing dessert i have ever taste. (Apart from your Baked Alaska, of course!). (Oh, and that Coffee thing you do in a cup. Sorry, can't remember what it's called!)

Cappuccino Crunch Cup is what you're thinking of - mmm anybody would think that you only care about puddings - oops, I mean deserts.

But trust you to want it bluer.

Coffee!?

I'm sorry, but we're going to have to discuss this in private.

Well what's upset Beer Man? Is it the fact that somebody is more enthralled by our desserts than our beer. Or the fact that many people here in the UK like to add an animal derived emulsified liquid, sometimes frothed a little, to our coffee??

Or perhaps our UK coffee just isn't up to scratch for this Colonial??

See what you've started Swindonian - I hope we don't have to baar you from the blog as well!

Now, look 'ere David!!! I never said i didn't like yer beer !! I love it. The Woolpack is the only place i drink beer. Thats why i gets a bit squiffy when i drinks it!! ( See what you done! You made me start talkin all Swindonian!! ). I was just commenting on the 'Blue Pudden'. Anyway, when are you and beermanwalking gonna make some more Colonial Breakfast? That was lush. (Can you use lush when describing beer??).

..well, on the subject of the Colonial range of quality ales, there is a move afoot to hijack Ted's brewery and make some there...but of course you can call a beer lush, especially if we made it!

My concern was the usage of the term "coffee" to describe something brown scooped out of a tin. When I was at the Woolpack I had to bring my own roast, secretly cached in a baggy in an undisclosed location.

And it IS OK to add animal derived emulsified liquid, provided I am on hand to oversee the process.

Now then Ted, don't you go giving the impression that we give our customers ANYTHING that might be out of a tin! The Cappuccino Crunch Cup uses BEANS, ground fresh and infused into the Crème Englaise.

I just never showed you the location of our beans......

I had your Blue Bore Bomb last night and really loved it. I felt a bit bold asking for it as it seemed a strange pud. Mind you, I love white chocolate, cream cheese and blue cheese and so decided that if anyone would like it , it would be me! Hadn't realised that it was a 'cult' pud! It would have been a bit rich without the inspired addition of the pear and apple.I may have to return.....
